Background Overview
FirstNet PTT is designed to enable public safety to use their smartphones, feature phones, and specialized ultra-rugged devices like they would use a two-way radio, with highly reliable, high-performance calling,” according to an AT&T press release. “FirstNet PTT will also deliver new features that allow first responders to better react to changing events.
This product was under the collaboration between Samsung Electronics American and AT&T(FirstNet).
Some of the product’s main features:
Group call with team members
Send texts, images, videos, and files with contacts and talk-groups
Search team members from local groups and server
Core Project Overview
I led the design for 5 features for 5.0. We received the design requirements from AT&T’s PMs, and I was mainly focusing on the Interaction and Visual design, as well as the final deliverable for the R&D team.
Research: meeting with AT&T’s PMs and the team to understand the requirements to design a solution that meets AT&T business needs.
Interaction Design & Visual Design: I was responsible for the feature phone solution, improve the existing design, and maintain the UI/GUI guideline(design system).
Iteration: create the prototypes for the weekly design critique section, and receive feedback from the R&D team.
Deliverable: final deliverable including sketch files and UI/GUI guideline for final implementation.
